5 Testing Takeaways (Day 2)

Another day of testing has come to a close, there’s been a few stories of note but less than yesterday so for that and a myriad of other reasons there’s only going to be 5 today.

1. Zippy Zhou!

Shock of the day, Zhou Guanyu top of the timesheets at the close of Friday testing. Probably won’t mean a lot nor ever be replicated but a nice shock nonetheless even though his car stopped on track.

2. Poor George

Very sadly George’s Mercedes stopped on track due to a hydraulics issue. After a 2022 season with no reliability troubles this better not be a precursor to more failures.

3. Super Sargeant!

Logan Sargeant has done the most running of any driver today gathering lots of data for Williams and definitely him making the most of his opportunity in F1!

4. Woking’s Woes

Both McLaren cars haven’t shown much pace this week and it has been rumoured they’ve missed some targets in the development process. Don’t think they’ll get their act together before the first race.

5. Actual pace from Aston?

Once again Alonso was up there (P3 today) and had no reliability struggles, could team Silverstone live up to Lawrence’s promises and be a really solid contender?

Gabriella, these early days of testing don’t mean too much, but I do enjoy your comments. I too would like to see Aston Martin become contenders. I think Alonzo’s presence will shake up the team in a good way.
