Another home race weekend for Ferrari starts in a reasonably strong way…

Ferrari – It seems that the special livery is doing Ferrari good thus far as Leclerc topped FP1 in a 1-2 whilst Sainz went fastest in FP2. Something tells me the rest of their weekend will not run as smoothly…

Mercedes – A strong showing for the Mercedes pairing with Russell P3 and P5 in the two sessions with his team-mate behind in P4 and P7. Hamilton takes a grid penalty to the back of the grid so this may not be that relevant.

Red Bull – Experimental setups and components may mask Red Bull’s true pace with Verstappen P5 and P2 with Perez once again lagging behind in P6 and P14.

McLaren – At the circuit where McLaren took their only win of last season they appear to be strong with Norris P4 in FP2. Ricciardo was P11 and P10 in the two sessions – good points on the cards?

Alpine – Consistency quick for Alpine with P8 and P9 in FP2 and P6 and P7 in FP1. Ocon lead the pairing in both outings and will definitely pose a threat to the team in papaya.

AlphaTauri – Despite issues for Gasly in FP1 they appeared fast in the first session with P8 for Tsunoda and P13 for the Frenchman. FP2 was less successful with P15 and P14.

Williams – Latifi once again struggled with P19 and P20 in the two sessions. Albon was more successful with P11 and P10 – points this weekend?

Alfa Romeo – A decent showing in practice from Alfa Romeo with Bottas taking P9 and P13. Zhou was P12 in both sessions.

Haas – Haas ran Antonio Giovinazzi in FP1 and came P18. Schumacher caused a red flag in FP2 due to mechanical issues with his car. Magnussen was P17 and P16.

Aston Martin – Nyck de Vries drove a third different car in FP1 with Aston coming in P19. Stroll was P15 and P18 in the two sessions with Vettel in P17.
