Monza didn’t fail to disappoint once again this year with a race that had a record-breaking outcome and some thrilling battles up and down the grid.
Red Bull: Take a bow Max Verstappen, 10 race victories in a row – a feat never achieved before in F1 and for once this year he had a bit of a fight on his hands from Ferrari. Also, congratulations to Checo for making a Red Bull 1-2.
Ferrari: For once Ferrari had a race where they didn’t muck it up even if they came close with a battle at the end which I’m sure had Fred Vasseur looking away. A 3-4 is strong points for the team but maybe not where they want to be.
Mercedes: A penalty apiece for the two Mercedes drivers but some strong defending from the British pair secured a 5-6 for the team (with Russell ahead!).
Williams: Round of applause for Alex Albon after some defending Bobby Moore would be proud of that secured his joint-best result so far of P7. Sargeant briefly ran in the points but a penalty dropped him to P13.
McLaren: From their heights of previous weeks, McLaren had a mediocre showing but still scored points with Norris in P8 while Piastri was disadvantaged by his contact with other drivers which caused damage and penalties leaving him P12.
Aston Martin: A tale of two halves for Aston Martin with Alonso picking up points in P9 while Stroll languished near the back in P16.
Alfa Romeo: Bottas seems to be closer to his old form with a P10 finish while Zhou made up positions to come P14.
AlphaTauri: A stunning showing from Liam Lawson who on his second time out to come on the edge of the points in P11, very impressive. The same cannot be said for the other AlphaTauri which failed to make it around the formation lap due to a mechanical fault – poor Yuki.
Alpine: A terrible weekend for the team from Enstone as after a double Q1 knockout their fortunes failed to improve in the race with Gasly P15 and Ocon out the race.
Haas: A weekend of obscurity for Haas as nothing notable happened to them with the pair of Hulkenberg and Magnussen finishing last of the finishers.
