I spend a lot of my time reading and watching content about business and following my ranking of business books I thought I should turn my attention to the audiovisual content available.
I’m going to divide it into business TV, personal finance TV and then business YouTube with all the TV shows being from the UK because that’s where I live and it has the best business programming.
Business TV
Dragons’ Den: There is (in my eyes) no better business TV show than Dragons’ Den. It is as real as you’re going to get due to the constraints of television and turns business negotiation into true nail-biting drama as you see a mix of amazing businesses and hopeless entrepreneurs all vying to gain investment from a Dragon. It is also shown in other countries with international formats such as Shark Tank in the US.
Business Programmes on Channel 5: Channel 5 do an excellent selection of business programmes where they explore different famous UK companies (mostly supermarkets) detailing their history and consulting various experts (including Harry Wallop, Dr Amna Khan and Kate Hardcastle). I love watching these as you often learn a lot and it is very well put together.
Personal Finance TV
Martin Lewis Money Show: The best personal finance programme on TV is the Martin Lewis Money Show without a shadow of a doubt. Up to date, clearly explained, useful financial information with viewer questions often answered – what more can you want? I may be slightly biased towards this one as I appeared on the show when I was younger but lots of people think it’s good (even winning TV awards).
Rip Off Britain: A slightly more random choice as this is a programme on in the early morning fronted by three older ladies talking about scams. Even though it is aimed at an older demographic, it is still very interesting and you do learn a lot about how to not get ripped off and which new scams are doing the rounds. Definitely a good show!
Business YouTube
Magnates Media: Magnates Media are incredibly good at business content as they furnish YouTube with detailed, beautifully edited documentaries/mini movies about notable companies and founders. The channel itself featured in a great story of late as it was almost removed due to some dubious copyright strikes from beleaguered creator Alex Edson – thankfully this has been resolved.
TLDR Business: This channel provides news and up to date reaction/analysis to what is going on in the business world and is pretty good. They do discuss some slightly out there topics from time to time but overall it is worth a watch and the videos aren’t too long.
TwoTeachers: Special mention for TwoTeachers YouTube channel which is business studies revision but is very good, useful content that sometimes I watch for fun if there’s something I haven’t done in ages (or never been taught at all!). Best business revision channel out there.
