8 Interesting Women for International Women’s Day

Today (8th March) is International Women’s Day so I decided to do a brief list of the eight women who are most interesting to me from the worlds of motorsport and business.

Motorsport

Susie Wolff

A highly influential figure in women’s motorsport, Suzie Wolff has held many important positions from team principal of the Rokit Venturi Formula E team to driving in an F1 practice session for Williams. Her most recent appointment is as chairman of F1 Academy.

Jamie Chadwick

One of the biggest stars in female motorsport, 3-time W Series champion Jamie Chadwick is often considered to be one of the most promising drivers from the all-women’s series. She’s currently racing in IndyNXT and will hopefully do just as well there.

Hannah Schmitz

The strategy genius behind Red Bull Racing’s F1 success, Hannah Schmitz has gained much fame in the motorsport world for her role in ensuring Red Bull’s strategies are as dominant as their race cars and I can’t see that stopping any time soon.

Jessica Hawkins

Another W Series racer, Jess Hawkins is an acclaimed stunt driver featuring in the latest James Bond film who also is a strong LGBTQ+ activist.

Business

Deborah Meaden

One of the most famous businesspeople, Deborah Meaden has established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the harsh world of business and someone who everyone knows not to try and fool – definitely someone I look up to.

Sara Davies

Another formidable British business force, Sara Davies has a very no-nonsense approach to doing business and isn’t afraid of hard work. She wrote a very interesting book too.

Baroness Karren Brady

One of the fierce aides on The Apprentice, Baroness Brady has worked incredibly hard to make a name for herself and be highly successful including being vice-chairman of West Ham FC and a member of the House of Lords.

Susan Wojcicki

A strong female force in the heavily male-dominated world of technology, Susan Wojcicki shaped YouTube’s business to the way it is today during her tenure as CEO from 2014 to 2023. YouTube Music and Premium were all part of her innovation there and made the business more profitable.
