An eventful race produced the 113th different winner of a Formula One Grand Prix despite two safety cars and an awful lot of drama.
Mercedes – Their first 1-2 since 2020 came in the shape of Russell’s first victory after a dominant display from the Brit that started from the Sprint yesterday right up to the final lap of the Grand Prix. Hamilton fought back well after contact with Verstappen and was in touching distance of the win but ultimately took P2.
Ferrari – A strong day for Ferrari that was for once not blighted by strategic errors. Sainz drove well for P3 and Leclerc had an impressive recovery from contact with the barriers up to P4.
Alpine – A good race for Alpine with Alonso fighting earnestly up to P5 with Ocon in P8 with both drivers netting strong points for the team.
Red Bull – A disappointing day for Red Bull with Verstappen receiving a penalty for the contact with Hamilton and having to fight from the back up to P6 with Perez behind in P7 with the performances marred by Verstappen’s reluctance to relinquish position for his teammate.
Alfa Romeo – After a tumultuous weekend, Bottas managed to bring home some points for Alfa Romeo in P9 while Zhou managed P12.
Aston Martin – A mediocre day for Aston Martin with Stroll taking one point in P10 with Vettel just behind in P11.
Haas – It’s been from delight to dejection for Kevin Magnussen’s side of the garage as the Dane failed to complete lap one after contact with Ricciardo. Schumacher also didn’t have a great day with P13.
AlphaTauri – Nothing exciting as always for AlphaTauri with Gasly in P14 and Tsunoda in P17 with the only event of note being Tsunoda not being allowed by the FIA to unlap himself under the safety car.
Williams – An advancement on last but nothing to write home about for Williams with Albon P15 and Latifi P16.
McLaren – Double DNF disappointment for McLaren with Ricciardo out before the end of lap one after contact with Magnussen and Norris suffering mechanical failure which put an end to his race.
