Singapore GP Debrief

A long, long race with more incidents than you can count. Maylander certainly earned his money today in managing the mixed-up order…

Red Bull – A second win of the season for Perez on a street track after superb management of the wet-dry race. Verstappen struggled at the start and throughout the race and came out with P7.

Ferrari – A strong day for Ferrari with good pace from both drivers as they took P2 and P3 earning lots of points.

McLaren – A tremendous double points haul for the team from Woking after a perfectly timed safety car left Norris P4 and Ricciardo P5 – his best result this season.

Aston Martin – A surprisingly good performance for Aston Martin with Stroll in P6 and Vettel in P8, a marked improvement on their previous races this year.

Mercedes – An immensely disappointing day for Mercedes as a trip into the barriers cost Hamilton dearly and left him P9 while a mistake in putting Russell on slicks and a few unfortunate events meant he stayed last (but did get his first fastest lap of the year).

AlphaTauri – A decent drive by Gasly put him into the points with P10 while a pathetic crash from Tsunoda led to another DNF for the Japanese driver.

Alfa Romeo – Bottas drove a superb race but sadly lost out on points in the closing stages, ending up P11. Zhou suffered from Latifi’s incompetence and recorded the first of many DNFs in Singapore.

Haas – Misfortune with safety cars and incidents left Haas out of the points at the end. Magnussen was P12 after encountering his old friend the black and orange flag while Schumacher collided with Russell and ended up P13.

Alpine – A terrible day for Alpine as Alonso’s momentous 350th Grand Prix led to engine failure with the same fate befalling Ocon. To add insult to injury, McLaren have now taken P4 in the constructors’ standings.

Williams – Another team with a double DNF as Latifi forgot his mirrors existed and went out rather early while Albon went careering into a wall later in the race – must do better.
