An interesting and uninterrupted qualifying session yielded some intriguing results…
Ferrari – A strong performance for Ferrari with Leclerc taking his 9th pole this season although I doubt it will lead to a win. Sainz starts P4.
Red Bull – Two different stories from Red Bull with Perez taking his first front row in Singapore with P2 whereas Verstappen had to abort his final flying lap due to concerns about running out of fuel, he starts P8.
Mercedes – A tale of two halves for Mercedes with Hamilton doing impressively well in P3 whereas Russell had his third Q2 knockout in P11 after struggling with power delivery.
Alpine – Once again, Alonso excelled in changeable conditions after he took P5. Brake issues meant Ocon was way off in P18.
McLaren – Another split team as Norris had another strong performance for P6 whereas Ricciardo struggled yet again coming out with P17.
AlphaTauri – A shocking double Q3 appearance for the Red Bull sister team after some great drives from Gasly in P7 and Tsunoda in P10.
Haas – A decent day for Haas with Magnussen reaching Q3 and taking P9 whereas Schumacher put his Haas into P13.
Aston Martin – A failed Q2 gamble on the slick tyre cost Aston Martin dearly as neither car managed to improve their time and left Vettel P14 with Stroll P12.
Alfa Romeo – The two Alfas have the eighth row all to themselves after unsurprising (but slow) laps put Bottas P16 and Zhou P15.
Williams – Bringing up the rear in Singapore is Williams. P19 for Albon and P20 for Williams is really not what the British team wanted but the track just doesn’t suit their car.
