The 2022 Dutch GP was a race decided mostly by a safety car, where have we heard that before? Regardless of the incidents it was a great race…
Red Bull – A solid performance from the Milton Keynes-based outfit with the correct strategy securing Max the victory. Perez wasn’t quite on the same level with P5.
Mercedes – A safety car led to Mercedes losing out on the chance of victory (again) but with Russell going against his team on strategy he made it up to P2. Hamilton suffered as a result of Mercedes’ devotion to track position and came P4.
Ferrari – Leclerc did reasonably well in P3 but Sainz’ race was scuppered by Ferrari. Firstly a missing tyre and then an unsafe release left Sainz in P8 after getting a penalty.
Alpine – Once again Alonso drove well and managed to make his way up to P6 (clearly age is just a number to him). Ocon was P9 and lost a position by 0.2 seconds after Sainz’ penalty.
McLaren – A tale of two halves for McLaren as despite many pit stops Norris was P7 whilst Ricciardo languished in P17.
Aston Martin – Impressive work from Stroll earned him a point in P10 while Vettel’s ignorance of blue flags cost him dearly in P14.
AlphaTauri – Gasly was the only AlphaTauri finisher in P11 but most of the focus was on Tsunoda. After stopping on track, returning to the pits and then stopping again to bring out a VSC many speculated they were helping Red Bull, I’ll leave you to think about that one.
Williams – So close for Albon but points eluded him in P12. Latifi was dead last in P18.
Haas – A disappointing day for Haas despite Schumacher’s strong starting position in the top ten, he ended up P13 with his team-mate in P15 after an early incident.
Alfa Romeo – Zhou struggled in P16 but Bottas suffered yet another technical problem and didn’t finish the race.
