A session with a few interruptions presented the result many expected…

Red Bull – An unsurprising pole for Verstappen after he set a string of stunning laps. Perez crashed on the final lap bringing out the yellow flag and ruining many other people’s laps, he starts P5.

Ferrari – A strong session for Ferrari with Leclerc in P2 and Sainz in P3 – can they convert it into good points tomorrow?

Mercedes – A question of what could’ve been for Mercedes as both driver’ flying laps were interrupted by Perez’s spin. Hamilton P4 and Russell P6.

McLaren – A superb qualifying for Norris with P7. Disappointment for Ricciardo in P17, if you want to impress another team that’s not the way to go about it.

Haas – A tale of two halves with Schumacher having a great time making it to Q3 in P8. Magnussen was ten places back in P18.

AlphaTauri – A definite step up for AlphaTauri with Tsunoda pulling out a strong lap for P9 with Gasly slightly behind in P11 – good start.

Alpine – A disappointment for Alpine with Alonso in P13 and Ocon in P12. Clearly didn’t suit the track.

Alfa Romeo – 148 races without a Q1 knockout for Bottas then two come at once with P16. Zhou was ahead in P14.

Williams – Flares and pigeons ruined Albon’s run plan so he ended up P15. Latifi brought up the rear in P20.

Aston Martin – A strong performance for Stroll who showed strong pace while Vettel was in P19.
